words from our guests

Natalie, PhD – Boston, MA

I have stayed at Kate and Chris’s place and cannot say enough about it. The peace, quiet, and comfort that I find there leaves me rejuvenated. Bright, clean and highest quality throughout. As an academic in Boston, I’ve annually escaped to Martha’s Vineyard for more than a decade.  I will continue to go there for longer vacations but let’s not kid ourselves: the Vineyard can be a bit of a chore to get to and the prices are, well, high. I have stayed at 17Cedars several times, using the time to think, plan, write and relax. I look forward to doing so again, soon.  The Dennis community was welcoming and warm. Chris and Kate were responsive to questions and suggestions.

Susan, PhD – Boston, MA

I’ve spent many wonderful weeks going to the Cape with my children and have visited most towns and beaches in the area. This place was a real find.  It’s just as nice as can be and perfectly situated between Dennis, Brewster and bay beaches. It was so easy to be here. A great place to retreat, find perspective. Kate and Chris were a delight. Communication was efficient, the house is spotless and very well appointed and the entrance to the bike path is just down the road.  It’s also very quiet and close to great restaurants and shopping. I’ll be back.

Eric, M.D. – Rochester, NY

Fifty years ago I went to the Cape as a medical student and a resident—fleeting breaks in my packed schedule. But rarely since, until this year when we stayed at the home of Kate and Chris. They were great hosts—available and comfortable to work with! Their place was immaculate. While I found a retreat from the demands of a busy medical center, I also realized that I could use this as a base to write grants while easily finding time to walk to the beach or ride my bike along the ‘upper arm’ of the Cape.

Jill- Pittsford, NY

After a tumultuous time for me at work, my husband and I decided a trip to the Cape would be the perfect escape.  We booked a stay at 17 Cedars and it was everything we wanted and more. The house is quiet and peaceful and was just what the doctor ordered. The decor is soothing and lovely – pretty enough that you feel like you are in an ad for Pottery Barn, but comfortable enough that you feel like you can kick your shoes off and relax. The kitchen was well equipped with anything we needed. The living room furniture invites you to sink in and read that book.  Lounge chairs in the backyard are the perfect spot to finish reading your beach read after your day at the beach.  While there we went on a whale-watching tour, which left from Barnsable, about 15 minutes away, rented bikes at the Dennis Cycle Center and enjoyed the miles of bike path, visited the National Coast Guard Beach as well as a beach just minutes from the house on a bay.  I spent time painting outside (and offered our lovely hosts the picture I painted which they said may be posted on the site, along with our whale watching photos. The house is located near many attractions as well as some wonderful restaurants.  We would highly recommend this rental as a great place to relax, or home base if you are out and about.  Thank you, Chris and Kate.
